What to look for

Flies around the fruit bowl

Tan flies with red eyes hovering over ripe produce are fruit flies. Check under the bowl and toss anything soft.

Flies rising from the drain

Tape over the drain overnight. Flies stuck to the tape mean the drain is the source.

Unrinsed bottles and cans are a favorite. Rinse before they go in the bin.

Do vinegar traps work?
